The Power of Food
We started Origin Nutrition because we believe in the power of food to bring families together, improve well-being and add to a lasting and fulfilled life. Eating well does not mean sacrificing variety, flavor or enjoyment; and no matter what your goals or condition, we can help you feel better. We know this because we’ve done it for ourselves.
We (Michelle Larson and Kari Moe-Hoffman) started Origin Nutrition in Park City, Utah, in 2009 because we know from first-hand experience what eating well can do for your life. We too have had difficult changes to make in our own lives, whether it was eating to balance cholesterol or to ensure that our children would be nourished through pregnancy and beyond; we have committed ourselves to the pure and simple enjoyment of quality food. It’s not always easy, in fact, sometimes it seems impossible, but we’ve seen through our own experiences that you can feel better by simply eating better.
Above all, we believe in natural and whole foods. Not because we’re out to save the world (though, that’s pretty great too), but because enjoying food and celebrating life to its fullest is the only way we see fit to live. Yes, we are concerned about how our food choices affect our environment, but we are the most concerned with how our food choices affect our families, our communities and our lives. The fact that these ideas are intrinsically entwined only adds to the good that we hope to do for you and for your world; however large, however small.
Michelle Larson BS Nutrition

Michelle isn’t a food snob, but she does love food and the direct connection it has on the health of the body and mind. After five years working as a natural health specialist at the Wedge Co-op in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michelle chose to take a front seat in sharing her commitment to sorting out fact from fiction when it comes to what’s “good for you” through counseling via Origin. Michelle likes to take her own route and form her own opinions regarding just about everything; traits that led her to live in Cuba to study their modern medical systems and reliance on traditional, or green, medicine. Michelle’s time investigating these systems further fueled her desire to examine not only food, but also supplements, herbs, and personal care products. When she isn’t getting mad at the food industry, Michelle likes to camp, hike, snowboard, bike, garden, read, and laugh at her hilarious daughter and husband.
Kari Moe-Hoffman MS Holistic Nutrition

Kari and her family moved to Park City, Utah in 2007 to pursue their life-long dream of living in the mountains and Kari’s dream of starting a nutritional consulting practice – hence Origin Nutrition was born. Prior to opening Origin, Kari spent over four years managing the Health and Body Care division of the Wedge Co-op in Minneapolis, entrenched in the world of supplements, herbal products and natural foods. It was at the Wedge where she met her Origin partner, Michelle. During that same time period, Kari also worked as a Nutritional Educator for Weight and Wellness educating clients on balanced healthy eating, weight loss, sports nutrition and more. Desiring a hands-on, ground-level connection with food, Kari completed an extensive organic gardening and herbal medicine apprenticeship with Desert Woman Botanicals in New Mexico, and then traveled throughout New Zealand working on a variety of organic farms. Kari loves spending time with her husband and two children, cooking and enjoying the outdoors. Kari holds a BS in Biology and a MS in Holistic Nutrition.
